Title may be of misleading... but today while i was booking a ticket to Hubli, i got to see a new Train which as been started from B'lore to Bijapur via Tumkur, Davangere, Hubli, Gadag, Bagalkot & Bijapur.
There was initially a train by name "Basava Express", but it used to take close to 17 hours from B'lore to Bagalkot. The new train (Name Yeshvanthapur Express, No:6535A/6536A) leaves b'lore at 9.00 p.m from Yesvanthapura & reaches Bagalkot morning at 8.20 a.m. Its covers a distance close to 615 kms in 11 1/2 hrs. I would say days are not so long where the one man show (VRL's) will be nearing its end with his outdated buses, over priced tickets, stinky seats.
This is a long wish for most of people in Bijapur/Bagalkot dist's and the Railways Dept... have shown a keen interest by providing a train which runs completely in Karnataka and covers most of the north karnataka dist's.
Another best part is, it reaches Bijapur from Bagalkot in just over an hour. If we go by road, it takes a minimum of 2 hours. Hope, there will be new trains which connects other taluk's such Jkd, Mudhol to bagalkot from Kudachi again which is a long one pending.

It seems the train as been cancelled now. They will restart the train tri-weekly and also planning to extend till Sholapur and will be named as Gol-gumbaz express. Hope, this wont take more time. Watch this space for updates
Train as been re-started today by our dear Momo Didi. As per the updates, it'll be a tri-weekly but on IRCTC, it shows 4 times a week
A new train has also been started from solapur-yesvantpur, (6536)Gol-gumaz exp..from 11th dec..your prayers have been answered once again by momo didi..
yes dude.. it seems for 4 days.. train will run by the name bijapur express & remaining 3 days by gol-gumbaz express
